Let the Children Come!

bcc childrenMat 19:13-15 ISV Then some little children were brought to him so that he might lay his hands on them and pray. But the disciples rebuked those who brought them. (14) Jesus, however, said, “Let the little children come to me, and stop keeping them away, because the kingdom from heaven belongs to people like these.” (15) When he had laid his hands on them, he went on from there.

Jesus is around the Jordan river teaching large crowds that have come to hear Him. In the crowd there are Pharisees who have come not because they want to listen to the teachings of Jesus in search of the truth but because they want to test Jesus. While Jesus is teaching they interrupt and ask Jesus if it is lawful for a man to divorce his wife for any reason. Jesus in a show of grace decides to answer them. His answer basically states that when God made Eve for Adam, divorce was never part of the plan. Divorce is a consequence of the fall and still hurts God’s heart. It just teaches man what a rebellious creature he is.

While Jesus was still teaching, little children were brought to him so he can bless them. Jesus’ disciples (because of their cultural mindset) rebuked those who brought the children and tried to send them away. Jesus commanded that the Children be brought to him because the Kingdom of God belong to people who are like Children.

I want you to see the connection between father, mother, family, divorce and children. Note that bringing the children was not just an isolated incidence. The children were brought because the people heard Jesus teaching about the family.

The disciples thought the children were too young to be blessed by Jesus. That is how many of us today neglect children in the Church.

We value women at BCC

BCC Women

Throughout God’s history of creation and redemption, women are key to the fulfillment of God’s plan on earth. At Buea Community Church we value women dearly and are thankful to God for the key role they played and continue to play in the Church of Jesus The Christ.

While today there is much controversy about the role of women in the Church, we believe that women play a role in the Church that men cannot play. Take out women from the Church and there is absolutely no church at all. The problem is that we have placed greater importance on some roles in the church. So, we think that the roles that men are called by God to play are more important than the roles women are also called to play. If we understand that no role is more important than the other as long as those roles glorify God, then there will be no problem of feeling that women are relegated to the background in the Church.

At BCC, we value and honour women and the role God has called them to play in the Church!

If you are a woman, can I ‘hear’ you shout a big ‘Amen’.

The Good and faithful Servant

I hope you woke up to a bright Sunday morning and are looking forward to uniting with other believers to Praise and Worship God.

The Good and faithful Servant

Matt. 25:15-30

Introduction:

There are 3 major gifts we have been given freely by God beside our salvation. They are Time, Talent (skill) and Treasure (money and material). Notice the 3 T’s.

Sermon:

  1. The Master trusted his 3 servants to entrust them with his wealth. V14. If you have received anything from God, be careful how you use it because it is an indication that God trusts you.
  2. Each one received what they were able to handle. V15. Don’t worry that God has not given you as much as he has given someone else. You have receive what you have received because God knows that how much you can handle right now. If you were to receive more than that, you would crash.
  3. two of three servants traded and so grew in their talents. V16-17. If you invest what God has give, it will grow and multiply and bless multitudes.
  4. One servant did not trade his talent and so did not experience any increase. V18. When you bury your talent, it dies.
  5. When the master finally returned, he required his servant to each give an account. V19-20. For every assignment, you will have to give an account to the one who gave you the assignment.
  6. The Lord rewards faithfulness, not the size of our work. Notice how the servants with 5 and two talents had the exact same recommendation: “Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful over a few things; I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.” V21-23. Until you are faithful in small things, you will never be put in charge of big things.good and faithful servant
  7. The unproductive servant blamed his Master. V24-25. Those who are unproductive, always blame others.
    1. Evil and slothfulness (Laziness, Prov. 24.30-34) were responsible for his unproductivity. V26-27. Those who are unproductive often do not see themselves as the greatest cause of their unproductivity.
  8. Even the little the unproductive servant had was seized and given to the productive servant. V28-29. When you are unproductive in your assignment, God will simply take it away and give to someone else who is productive because God’s work MUST be done. None of us is indispensable to God.
  9. The unproductive servant ended up in eternal separation from God. V30. The ultimate consequence of a spiritually unproductive life is an eternity separated from God. Ay that never be your portion, in Jesus Name!

Conclusion:

  1. Make sure you use/invest faithfully, whatever ‘gifts’ (Time, Talent, Treasure) the Lord has graciously given you.
  2. Remember that you will be reward not for the size of your work but for how faithful you were to your work.
  3. If you are unfaithful and slothful and consequently unproductive with what God has entrusted to you, he will take it away from you and give it to someone else who is faithful and productive.

  4. After all is said and done, the heavenly welcome is ‘Welcome, thou good and faithful Apostle, Prophet, Evangelist, Pastor Teacher, Bishop, Reverend, Dr., Professor, Leader, Preacher, SERVANT!

Go therefore and make disciples of all nations

Matthew 28.19

Friends, greetings from our home in Buea. I arrived Saturday from Bangkok, after the historic Global Proclamation Congress (GProCongress) for Pastoral Trainers. From Bangkok, I was headed to the USA but finally arrived Cameroon. Amazing! All things work for good. ‘Thank you’ to all of you who have remembered me, my ministry and family in your prayers. I will spend two months in Cameroon with family and ministry before returning to the US towards end of August. I will be involved with a lot of ministry while here, both with Buea Community Church and with Pastors all over the nation. The work is huge and if the Lord moves you to send support at any time of any kind, please do not hesitate to do so. The need is always there. Thank you.

The Words above are among Jesus’ last Words to the Church. If you knew you would die in the next day or two and you had to leave your last words with your children, what would they be in one or two sentences. For those who have the opportunity to know that their death is imminent, the want to tell their children what they consider to be most important to them.

If these are the last words of Jesus to his disciples, those must be the most important thing that Jesus wanted to leave with them. It was the assignment to pass on what they received from him. They were to go share the good news of salvation in Christ alone with others and teach them to become faithful followers of Jesus Christ.

Unfortunately, today, most followers of Christ are not making disciples but rather just enjoying being a disciple of Christ.

Are you actively making (or seeking to make) disciples for Jesus or you are simply happy, grateful and satisfied that you are a disciple of Christ?

I pray for you that in the next 7 days, you will present Jesus to someone and hopefully leed them to faith in Christ. Don’t end there, meet regularly with them to help them get a solid Christian foundation before you let them go on their on. Yes, you Can, brother! You can, sister!

Let your light shine before others

Matthew 5.16

During his famous sermon on the Mount, Jesus told his disciples to let their light shine before others. There is a light in each believer that is supposed to be shinning; not primarily for them to see but for others to see. But what is this light that is supposed to be shining and where does the energy to shine come from? Well, as we all know, a bulb does not shine of its own accord. It derives energy from a different source. Same with us! The Holy Spirit is your source of power to shine. Note that the light that shines in our passage is linked to good deeds that others see. Psalms 119:105 says “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.”

So, we may rightly conclude as follows: When we meditate on the Word of God, the Word becomes light for us PERSONALLY to walk before God. However, when we live or practice the Word through good deeds,  the good deeds we do in obedience to the Word become light for others to see. I may claim to be full of the Holy Ghost and the Word, but if people never see the good I do because of the Word, I am only a clanging cymbal.

“People will never see the Word of God in you until you live it.”

I pray that God will give us the grace to integrate God’s Word in our daily lives.

We are beginning a new and last season for our lives in 2015. We have lived in seasons since January 2015 and are about to enter the last season for the year.

Here are the seasons:

Jul – Sep: Weeding: Mat 13:25
Oct – Dec: Harvest: John 4:35

The Lord has led us to take the harvest season by prayer storm. So, we are praying every week day (Monday – Friday) at the church from 5-7pm during the month of October 2015. Join us for a transforming encounter. Prayer Changes people, situations, circumstances, everything and anything.

If you live in or around Buea, we look forward to seeing you. If you cannot join us in person, connect by praying right where you are. The same grace will come upon you that God is pouring out upon us.
